Dear new Avocado Grove Owners or Prospective Owners,

The thought of having my own avocado grove and selling tons of fruit at a huge profit was just too much for me. So I started my search using the computer and driving back and forth through the hills of north county looking for realty signs. When I saw the grove that I later purchased (from Jill Marie) I hiked over the 5 acres of mostly steep land covered with weeds and trees (the trees had more wood than leaves) I was thinking "with just a little work this will be great".

I purchased the land and called a few experts in to tell me where to start. I was told how to stump the trees and that the grove needed to be weedwacked. I promptly went out and purchased a new weedwacker and chainsaw. I was thinking that with a concentrated effort I could cut these trees and weedwack the 5 acres in just a couple of weekends.  Two years later the grove was completed. I had no idea what kind of time and effort was needed to get a grove looking as good as most of the groves I see from the road.

This is year three of grove ownership and we actually have a crop. The feeling of walking through this transformed grove is like no other, a mix of being a proud parent and tranquility.

If anyone is in this beginning stage and could use some advice on tools or recourses please give me a call, but beware, I can go on forever about avocados.
