Spike Every rural property should have at least one dog, this dog will be responsible for the following: Guard duty: Varmint control: Welcoming committee: Our property has Spike, Spike is a mutt that everyone is always trying to put a pedigree to "maybe he´s boxer or maybe Rhodesian ridgeback or a pit bull". Whatever his mix he turned out just right. Jill acquired Spike while showing a couple an avocado grove in Fallbrook. She was just about to leave when she turned to see three sets of ears peeking over a rock. Jill in realtor attire (high heels and skirt) hiked back up the hill where she found three one-month-old puppies (they had apparently been abandoned). They had been surviving by eating the avocados that had fallen from the trees of the grove. She scooped up the wiggling pups and trudged back to her car. The couple was aghast at the prospect of having these pups in the car with them on the way back to the office and said as much. Jill pleaded with them that she just couldn't´t leave them behind that "they might be eaten by coyotes". Jill and the missus sat in the front seat and the mister sat in the back with the frightened puppies. They didn´t even make it around the first corner when the avocados took effect on the little dog's digestive system. To Jill´s horror the three pups were redecorating the rear seat of her Volvo in the loveliest shade of avocado green. Jill was sure that was going to be the last time she saw her clients but they must have reeeealy liked her because they continued to use her as their agent and wound up finding a property and purchasing it. Jill found homes for all three pups but Spike was returned because he looked too much like a pit bull. I met Spike when I visited Jill's home/zoo for the first time. He struck me as just a normal ranch dog at first. But then I noticed something about him "LOYALTY". He would take to following me around the property. I just thought that he was just looking for the odd creature I might scare up while I was doing my chores. But it became more of a dog obsession for him, he didn´t want to leave my side ever! He now goes most places with me and even has become a great traveler (no more avocados for him though). You might even get to meet him at our office, as sometimes I bring him to work with me.
